A pivotal Irish myth which tells the story of the Tuatha Dé Danann fighting to
overthrow the oppression of a stingy king, Eochaid Bres, and his paternal
relatives, the Formorians. The Cath Maige Tuired is full of valuable information
about the beings usally viewed as the Irish Gods and includes well-known
figures like the Morrigan, the Dagda, Lugh, Oengus mac ind Og, and Ogma.
This text represents a full English translation from the original Irish
manuscript, including the poetic sections normally not included in other published
versions. The version offered here is a more literal translation in the spirit of the
older text. It includes only the English language material.
Morgan Daimler is an amateur translator of Old and Middle Irish who has a great
passion for Irish mythology. Morgan has written both fiction and nonfiction works,
and has several small pocket books of translated older Irish material. This is the
first full length translated text to be released.
